The Greek gem of the Aegean Sea: Santorini

When you see those Greek postcard with the traditional blue-white Greek colours, rounded houses, small temples with bell towers on the side, chances are they were taken on Santorini.
Situated in the Aegean Sea, this volcanic island isn't known from its beaches, but from the picture perfect scenes and the breathtaking views.
I was there with the cruise ship (later I will post more about this ship) so, after a short tender boat ride, we arrived on the bottom of a very steep rock. And Thira, the city in right on the top of it! They have a long way up on the side with stairs, where also if you are adventurous you can rent a donkey and ride up. We were warned ahead, that it might not be the best choice, but thanks for modern technology, now they have a cable car also, what is not only more convenient way to get up to the top, but also way faster too. And once you are a worker on the ship, your free time is really precious.
After the few minutes cable car ride, we found ourselves stepping out to the middle of the postcard scenes. Everything just like in the Greek theme travel book, postcards, movies. There is plenty of restaurant and cafes built to the edge, offering you a magnificiant view with your meal, or drink.
And deep down the Aegean Sea with its dark blue giving even better contrast to the mainly white-blue houses. It is very pleasant to walk around, and after you pass the souvenir shops, you can explore the beauty of the Greek architecture, hidden by small pathways, and sometimes an occasional door, where you can peek in to see what you only seen on postcards before.
It is a fantastic place. But I have here a few photos, so, I let you decide it!!
